About LocalRoutes
Connecting young people in South Holland & The Deepings to the jobs, placements and opportunities already here, so nobody has to leave home to find a future.
Why I started LocalRoutes
I've lived in Spalding since I was ten. At 16 I started working at McDonald's, balancing shifts with school, and when I finished I went full time. I had plans for what came next, but Covid put a stop to them.
So I found another way in. I joined Bakkavor as an HR Administrator and was promoted to HR Associate. I wanted to push myself further, but the opportunities I was looking for weren't here locally. That's what took me to London, where I joined NCR as a Junior Business Consultant on a Level 3 Data Technician apprenticeship, which I finished with a Distinction.
I survived my first redundancy there and was promoted to Account Executive. Then in 2025 I was made redundant again.
What followed was the hardest year of my working life. Hiring freezes, more redundancies, even job offers withdrawn. My savings ran thin, and finding any work just to cover the bills was a struggle in itself. Eventually I started as an Amazon delivery driver. It's kept me going, physically and mentally, at 20,000 steps a day.
That year changed how I see things. I had years of experience, a qualification and a track record, and I still struggled. I couldn't imagine what it was like for young people with far less behind them.
Danny Muryn-Antonyshyn, Founder
Work gives us more than a wage. It gives us purpose, the ability to provide, and a stake in the community around us.
What's changing, and what I want to do about it
When I started looking into it, the picture was clear. First jobs are disappearing. Apprenticeships are getting harder to find. And work experience, often the very first step, is quietly vanishing.
I want to help change that. LocalRoutes exists so young people in South Holland & The Deepings can find their route into work without feeling they have to leave home to do it. Everyone has a part to play — businesses, schools, families and the wider community. If we don't, we lose the young people who need us most.
Our goals
Open doors to opportunity
A growing network of local businesses offering work experience, early careers roles and apprenticeships, all year round.
Make every route visible
University, apprenticeships, employment or self-employment. We give young people the information and confidence to choose the right one.
Strengthen the local economy
Keeping talent, ambition and opportunity local, helping South Holland & The Deepings grow from within.
